Trash To Treasure Summer Camp

Location: RumRiver Art Center -  Anoka, MN

Date: 6/9 - 6/13

Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Ages: 5 - 17

So much beautiful art can be made from odds and ends. Old books, unused toys, jars, toilet paper rolls, broken dishes, plastic containers… okay the list goes on forever… so many possibilities! This camp will explore mixed media techniques to create unique paintings on canvas, how to reuse 3D items to create animal sculptures, and broken or old ceramics to use in mosaic art. Campers are encouraged to gather items from home to bring in. Using materials that you have consumed or used in the past gives your artwork more personal meaning and more YOU.

This is a space to honor your story, your voice, and all the beautiful messiness that makes you you.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just love getting crafty, you’ll learn playful techniques, stitching, and more. We’ll provide a wide array of supplies—from rainbow ephemera and fabric scraps —but feel free to bring your own bits and pieces that feel meaningful to you.

This class is all about freedom, connection, and creative expression. Come as you are, make art that reflects your truth, and leave with a pocket-sized journal full of Pride.

All identities, expressions, and experience levels are welcome.

Embracing Disruption: An Artistic Journey of Letting Go

Location: Rum River Art Center - Anoka, MN

Ages: 15+
Date: Saturday August 23rd, 2025
Time: 10a - 2pm

Explore the liberating power of releasing control amidst disruption.

This 4 hour workshop focuses on the joy of the creative process rather than the final product. Using various mediums such as paint, charcoal, ink and pastels, learn to break free from the constraints of perfectionism and expectation and discover the beauty in embracing unexpected actions as catalysts for creativity.  Through the act of letting go and navigating disruptions, we allow spontaneity and intuition to guide our artistic expression and help us find the natural rhythm of our creative spirit.

No prior experience is necessary; all levels of artists are welcome.

Let go of expectations, embrace the unknown, and see where your intuition leads you!  This class is great for kids, great for adults, great for the whole family!
